Life is ever changing and adapting, and everything comes down to how well you as a single person can adapt to the changes around you. How often have you found yourself in sticky situations where you thought to yourself…damn…this could have been avoided!
Most likely you could have avoided 80% of the natural disasters that came your way by means of that good old mutual friend we all share called Murphy. Mr. Murphy even made a law that states :”things will go wrong in any given situation, if you give them a chance,” or more commonly, “whatever can go wrong, will go wrong.” The only time that things go wrong is when you give them the chance to, and in my life i strive to keep uncle Murphy at bay.
Another wise man once said:”It’s not the strongest of species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the ones most responsive to change.” – Charles Darwin.
I see myself in that manner as i easily adapt to circumstances and conditions around me, and most of all i try be as ready as i possibly can be for whatever the day holds for me and one of the best ways i manage that is by carrying on my side the most trusted tool and item i have ever owned, something that doesn’t back down no matter the task, come rain or snow or extreme heat it just always functions 110% like it should.
I am talking about my Leatherman Multi tool, back in the days of school i saved up for quite a long time to buy my 1st Leatherman Wave 2, it was the best thing since sliced bread and back in 2005 i never really fully realized by how much my life would change with a Leatherman on my side, for now i have joined a community of people who are ready for what the elements throw their way no matter what.
i carried my first wave 2 Leatherman for a period of about 7 years then i went to a local agricultural show and what do you know Leatherman SA had a stand so i took it there with the intention of getting it serviced and maybe get a new knife blade when all of a sudden the lady behind the counter after looking at the now hollowed out knife edge as i sharpened it over the years, just said why waste time and voila she chucked my old one on a pile and handed me a brand new one free of charge. a Sad and happy moment all at the same time as that 1st Leatherman made so much memories in the 7 years of ownership and to just chuck it on a heap of other Leathermans to get a new one felt just wrong, but nevertheless i got the new one and off we went.
Some years later Leatherman came up with a new product called the MUT or Military Utility Tool, its perfect for servicing weaponry or even just as an everyday carry and bonus it looked really AWESOME so i worked a connection of mine and bought myself a MUT, and boy was i exited as i now own 2 Leatherman tools, each one having specific tasks. These days i have relocated the MUT from my belt to my Bass fishing tackle bag as it works very well in that department and the wave along with all the extra bits and driver set was to be my daily carry then i’m ready for whatever comes my way.
Then last year happened and i received for my birthday from my amazing girlfriend my new Leatherman Surge, Thank you once again my dearest darling!!. Its basically a super sized wave, more sturdy, bigger, stronger and packs a great punch at life. Being in an apprenticeship program to become an artisan my wave was starting to take some major shots, even though it held up to the job i felt bad to over power a tool to get a job done, so now i carry the Surge and my oh my…what a machine this is! For my everyday tasks and even more hardcore tasks this is truly a beast and i would recommend it to anyone out there that feels the need of readiness.
If i leave home without the weight of my surge hanging from my belt, my day at work feels empty and then by the law of Mr. Murphy i will constantly find myself in a situation where the Leatherman would have been of major help to me.
